Lessons Mirror the Exam Rubric
The program provides individual lessons focused on the very specific and unique aspects of each type of essay. Each FRQ section starts with lessons focused on the Prompt. The remaining lessons follow the order of the College Board® rubric used to score the essay.
Lesson Structure
Each lesson has three distinct parts, until Unit 3, which adds an additional two-part feature.
The Learn section explains the lesson concept and provides direct, modeled instruction.

Practice explores the concept through practice activities.

Part 1: Write asks students to generate their own writing demonstrating their mastery of the concept covered in the lesson
Part 2: Revise offers students an opportunity to apply the concept to a revision of a provided draft..png?width=500&height=270&name=SE%20Pg%208%20(WRITE%20AND%20REVISE%20section).png)
In Unit 3, another part of the lesson appears:
On Your Own carries students through the process of writing an original essay, applying what they have learned in the lesson to their own composition. The lessons in Unit 3 provide the deep instruction students need to develop, connect, and defend their ideas, skills threatened by an overreliance on AI
Reflect asks students to articulate the value or purpose of what they just completed on their essay.
AP, SAT/ACT Style Questions
AP-Style Multiple Choice Question asks students to apply the concept to answer a question modeled on the AP English exams related to a student draft.
SAT- or ACT-Style Multiple Choice Questions are also included in each lesson.
