Measuring Up to the Florida Next Generation Sunshine State Standards for Science

Measuring Up to the Florida Next Generation Sunshine State Standards offers short and direct instruction and targeted lessons on all tested NGSSS. The program can be used as test preparation, for before- or after-school programs, or as an intervention—anytime your students need additional instruction or practice.
Lessons feature:
- Academic vocabulary, highlighted and used in context.
- Practice items that meet the rigor of the Florida Statewide Science Assessment.
- Units cover the following topics: Nature of Science, Earth and Space Science, Physical Science, and Life Science
- End-of-Unit Lab Investigations and Building Stamina practice tests for additional assessment opportunities.
- Two full-length science practice tests built to Florida’s test design and blueprint are available through Measuring Up Live.
Each lesson connects new learning to prior knowledge through real-world examples and the use of key vocabulary. Key terms are listed along with examples demonstrating their usage within the lesson.
Students will review the skills and standards to prepare for the Florida Statewide Science Assessment. Hints and other guidance along the way help guide students to the correct answer.
Items are designed to reflect the structure of high-stakes assessments, with questions that cover the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards.
Questions provide an opportunity for students to verify their understanding of the skills and standards before progressing to the next lesson.
Hands-on activities, experiments, and investigations are offered for each unit. A practice test at the end of a unit is called Building Stamina and offers additional practice opportunities.
