Beran Laboratory Manual for Principles of General Chemistry, 11th Edition
Author: J.A. Beran, Mark Lassiter
Grades 9–12
Course: AP® Chemistry
Support students in reinforcing Chemistry concepts through lab experiences. Students gain a solid foundation for technique, safety, and experimental procedure. As a result of "good" data, a scientific and analytical conclusion is made which may or may not "be right," but is certainly consistent with the data.
Reinforce Chemistry concepts through laboratory experiences

Labs give students practice documenting data and observations, accessing supplementary data, and doing further data analysis in laboratory notebooks.
Provide lab experiences that reinforce the concepts that not all experimental conclusions are the same and depend on:
- Identifying an appropriate experimental procedure
- Selecting the proper apparatus
- Employing the proper techniques
- Systematically analyzing and interpreting the data
- Minimizing inherent variables
- Explaining and communicating about the work
Students’ scientific literacy grows when experiences and observations associated with the scientific method are encountered. Further experimentation provides additional "cause & effect" observations leading to an even better understanding of the experiment.
Meet the AP CED laboratory requirement of 25% instructional time spent in hands-on laboratory work, with an emphasis on inquiry-based investigations.

Chemistry: The Molecular Nature of Matter, 8th Edition
Neil D. Jespersen, Alison Hyslop
Bridges the invisible molecular world with observable chemical phenomena, making the abstract tangible for students at every level. This edition transforms how students understand chemistry by revealing the intimate relationship between atomic structure and the macroscopic properties they can see, touch, and measure in their daily lives.
