Measuring Up Express Reading Language Arts

Measuring Up Express Reading Language Arts provides targeted lessons on all tested TEKS through short and direct instruction. The program can be used as test preparation, for before- or after-school programs, or as an intervention—anytime your students need additional instruction or practice.

Each lesson begins with an overview of the TEKS standards covered, highlighting the most critical concepts students need to master for success. This section helps set the stage by identifying the key ideas and that will be emphasized throughout the lesson.
Short response questions are provided to encourage students to think deeply and apply their understanding in meaningful ways. These prompts challenge students to demonstrate their skills and engage in thoughtful analysis beyond basic comprehension.
A Writing Companion is included at the end of this worktext to support students in developing strong text-based writing skills. It offers step-by-step guidance on planning, drafting, and revising informative and argumentative essays, as well as business letters. The companion features writing models, graphic organizers, and helpful strategies. Students are encouraged to refer to the Writing Companion when completing short and extended constructed-response items found in the Critical Thinking sections at the end of each chapter.
